About Us

Welcome to Fernhill Farmhouse. Fernhill has been owned and operated as a bed and breakfast by the Linnane family for over forty five years. You are certain to recieve a warm and hearty welcome from your host Suzanne on arrival at Fernhill. Based in the heart of North Co. Clare, Ireland between the seaside village of Doolin and the victorian spa town of Lisdoonvarna, Fernhill Farmhouse is the perfect accomodation base weather you are exploring the Burren or the Wild Atlantic Way or attending the match-making festival in Lisdoonvarna. 

History

Fernhill Farm was originally built as a priests house over 250 years ago but was later sold as a family home and working farm. Fernhill has been continually occupied and farmed since that time. Fernhill Farm opened its doors as a bed and breakfast over forty five years ago and has been privelidged to welcome guests from all over the world since then.​ Fernhill has won the national and regional award for excellence in accomodation and catering.

 

The Farm

Fernhill is a suckling herd. Every year the cows produce offspring which are kept until they are waened and then they are sold at the local mart. With rolling hills and lush green pasture the farm land provides stunnimg scenery for guests of Fernhill Farmhouse bed and breakfast.

The House

This Co. Clare bed and breakfast is a traditional style farmhouse decorated beautifully with period antiques, each with their own story to tell.

 

The Sun Room

On arrival you will be greeted by a beautiful sun room at the front of the house with comfortable seating and stunning views over the surrounding countryside. Guests are encouaged to use the sun room during their stay at Fernhill for relaxing, reading, browsing the internet or just taking in the wonderful countryside views. 

 

The Parlor

Nestled in the heart of the house, the parlor is a quiet room where guests can kick off their walking shoes at the end of the day and catch up on the news of the world on tv or in the newspaper over a hot cup of freshly brewed tea or coffee. Guests are also welcome to tinkle the keys of our beautiful upright piano in the parlor.

 

Dining Room

Every morning between 8.30am and 10.00am breakfast is served in our quaint dining room. On cold mornings guests will be greeted by a blazing turf fire. A traditional Irish breakfast is prepared by Suzanne every morning. Breakfast is served together with homemade brown soda bread, scones and homemade prserves. There are also a selection of cereals and fruits. All of the ingredients are sourced from loca suppliers and from Suzannes garden. Click here to view our breakfast menu. Suzanne will be happy to arrange packed lunches for guests, please let her know on arrival.

 

Tea Room

Upstairs, there is a tea room complete with a refrigorator and cupboards. Guests are welcome to use the tea room for storing medicines, baby food etc. and making tea or coffee that can be enjoyed in the bedroom or in the tv room. The is also literature available in the tea room with information on things to do in the local area.

Practical Information

  • Breakfast is served, each morning, from 8.30am-10.00am

  • Packed lunches can be arranged, please inform Suzanne on arrival.

  • Please inform the B&B of special dietry requirements prior to arrival.

  • Guests can enjoy television in the TV room on the first floor or in the parlor on the ground floor. Televisions are not provided in the bedrooms.

  • Storage for medicines, baby food etc. is available to guests in the tea room with 24hr access.
